Filtration plates types and applications

The main application of filtration plates in scientific research is the removal of particulate matter and debris from liquids. Once the two have been separated using a filter plate, assays can then examine either the filtrate or the particular matter itself, depending on the aim of the study.

Different types of filter plates are available based on the desired filtration applications - filter plates can be optimised for a range of applications, including cell harvesting, DNA separations, binding studies, plasmid isolation, general filtration and sample clean-up.

Depending on their designated applications, filtration plate types include 48-, 96- and 384-well microplates in a choice of glass fibre, nylon, PVDF or polyethylene filtration materials and well volumes ranging from 350 ¼l to 5 ml.

96 Well Filter Plates

96 Deep Well Filter Plates allow researchers to efficiently purify plasmid DNA or PCR products. The filtration plates are made from quality chemical resistant polypropylene with superior mechanical strength.

Designed specifically for high throughput sample processing, the 96 well filtration plates offer faster processing, higher yields and less clogging thanks to their shared wall configuration featuring reduced plate height and wider wells.

In addition to DNA plasmid preparations and PCR clean-ups, the 96-Well Filter Plates are suitable for vacuum, filtration, centrifugation or positive pressure techniques as well as downstream applications such as sequencing and restriction digestion. We recommend using the 96 well filtration plates for protein purification, lysate clarification and general filtration.

96 Well Filter Plates are also widely used in chromatography as a method of nucleic acid or protein purification. Since filter plates can be used to screen a range of conditions quickly, researchers often use them as a way to optimise the chromatography resin and purification conditions without consuming large sample amounts. With the versatile 96 well filtration plates you can also transfer and scale up your optimised process conditions and rapid screening ability.
