Another new line of products have been added to the website! Narrow and wide mouth HDPE reagent bottles by United Scientific™ are being carried by Southern Labware. These reagent bottles, sometimes referred to as sample bottles or media bottles are designed to safely store chemicals in liquid form. Made from high density polyethylene, these bottles are able to safely store acids, bases, alcohols and esters. United Scientific’s Narrow Mouth HDPE reagent bottles are manufactured from USP Class VI resin that is FDA-21CFR compliant. The bottles come in a variety of sizes and mouth openings. These bottles are translucent and amber and have a maximum use of 120 degrees Celsius. Choose from the many different sizes that are offered and between a wide or narrow mouth to fit your laboratory needs. These HDPE bottles are also offered in amber to reduce UV light transmission. Amber bottles are designed to protect light-sensitive contents and conform to USP requirements for storage of light sensitive materials. Both translucent and amber bottles have polypropylene caps included.

These cooling blocks are ice free, unlike traditional ice buckets. Southern Labware is now carrying GroMax™ Baffled Deepwell Microplates from Microbio. These plates are typically used for culture growth and the GroMax™ Baffled Deepwell Microplates are able to produce up to 60% extra yield over standard deep well plates. The increase in yield compared to a traditional block plate allows for increased recombinant protein production which effectively decreases the scale-up volume requirements. This makes protein expression microscreening and scale-up in E. coli more cost efficient. The GroMax™ Baffled Deepwell Microplates come with many different useful features. These plates increase mixing, aeration, and culture production. There is decreased incubation time, high throughput and reproducible results. The plates also feature high chemical and temperature resistance, raised wells for effective sealing, and precision molded virgin medical grade polypropylene. The GroMax™ brand of baffled microplates (patent pending) is the next evolution in the micro-fermentation. We used 3D Computational Fluid Dynamics to optimize the baffle form and create the greatest surface area to volume oxygen exposure. The continuous cycling aerates the bacterial media and provides a superior growth environment resulting in the proliferation of cells. A new line of products from MicronPlus has been added to the website for purchase! Southern
Labware is now carrying pattern adhesive sealing films and silicone mats for microplates! What
makes the sealing products from MicronPlus special is that due to their adhesive-free well
coverage they are designed specifically for the elimination of clogging and contamination of
needles as well as prevention of particulate generation and cross-contamination. These sealing
films offer the best optical clarity for inspection and diagnostic applications. Fluorescence is

Another advantage of MicronPlus seal films is having the option of Pre-Slit cross-cut in the center of each well. The pre-slit Cross-cut center improves performance with autosamplers and liquid handlers by eliminating the force needed to pierce the sealing film, thus enabling sample retrieval or additions to the plate well using plastic pipette tips. These pre-slit center cut sealing films are available in 96 Round, 96 Square and 384-well formats. All these formats are also available in roll format for automation.

Replacing difficult-to-use dimpled mats, this dimple-free mat manufactured from 10 mil medical grade transparent Silicone with Adhesive-Free well coverage bonds firmly to the microplate, permits precise withdrawal and injection of liquid, and reseals after multiple needle injections.   Being optically transparent above the wells, these mats can be used for qPCR testing.  These mats are an ideal cover for multiple steps: qPCR, PCR testing followed by aspiration and reseal. End product of PCR is a homogenous, highly concentrated solution of the desired DNA sequence. Products can then be run on a gel, sequenced, or used for further experiments. These mats show superior performance for cell culture gas permeability for Oxygen and CO2 as they eliminate edge effect; cell count reveals no apparent difference in cell count between central and peripheral wells. These mats are available in 96 Round, 96 Square and 384-well formats as well as roll format for automation.
